1. General
1.1. The carriage of luggage in regular buses is regulated by directive no. 141 “General Rules for the Transportation of Passengers by Regular Bus Service, Charter Service, Taxi Service and Baggage Service” of the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communication.
1.2. The regulation applies to passengers on long-distance routes and to the bus drivers servicing the routes.
1.3. The passenger is responsible for the hand luggage in the passenger compartment of the bus and the carrier is responsible for the luggage in the luggage compartment of the bus.
2. Carriage of luggage in the luggage compartment of the bus
2.1. The passenger has the right to transport luggage in the luggage compartment of the bus free of charge if the unit size (height + width + depth) does not exceed 150cm and the total weight does not exceed 30kg.
2.2. Prohibited luggage is not allowed to be transported in the luggage compartment of the bus. Prohibited luggage includes radioactive, explosive, poisonous, corrosive, flammable, foul-smelling and staining substances. It also includes substances and items without appropriate packaging, as well as substances and items which smudge or damage the public transport vehicle.
2.3. The luggage compartment is not allowed to carry baggage that contains valuable electronic devices (laptops, radio and television equipment, cameras, mobile phones etc.), works of art, securities, precious metals, jewellery, coins, firearms and other valuables. The passenger is obligated to take such luggage into the passenger compartment of the bus.
2.4. Luggage that is larger than usual, or so-called special luggage (bicycles, prams, musical instruments, sports equipment, etc.) shall be placed in the luggage compartment once other passengers’ luggage has already been accommodated. The special luggage must be securely packed for transport or, if possible, taken apart to reduce the space taken up by it. The special luggage must be clean and cannot damage the interior of the bus or the luggage of other passengers.
2.5. The carrier’s responsibility does not extend to luggage containing items listed in points 2.1. and 2.2.
2.6. The passenger is prohibited from opening or closing the luggage compartment of the bus.
2.7. Luggage and special luggage shall be placed into and released from the luggage compartment by the BUS DRIVER.
3. Carriage of hand luggage in the passenger compartment of the bus
3.1. The passenger has the right to carry luggage with a unit size (height + width + depth) not exceeding 150cm and a total weight not exceeding 30kg in the passenger compartment of the bus free of charge, as well as enclosed firearms and small animals and birds kept in a special cage, box, or bag or carried in any other way that does not disturb their fellow passengers or the bus driver.
3.2. Hand luggage must be placed in the shelf underneath the roof of the bus, under the seat or on the passenger’s lap and it cannot endanger or disturb the other passengers or ruin the interior of the bus.
3.3. Prohibited luggage is not allowed to be transported in the bus. Prohibited luggage includes radioactive, explosive, poisonous, corrosive, flammable, foul-smelling and staining substances. It also includes substances and items without appropriate packaging, as well as substances and items which smudge or damage the public transport vehicle.
3.4. A small animal can be taken on board on condition that it is in a cage, box, bag, etc. throughout the entire trip and that the animal and its cage are clean. Dogs must be on short leashes and wear muzzles.
3.5. Transporting small animals that are sick or pose a threat to the life or health of other passengers is prohibited.
3.6. The small animal must not hinder or disturb the mobility and seating of other passengers, nor should it cause damage in any other way.
3.7. To ensure a separate seat for the small animal and its cage, the passenger must purchase a full ticket for the small animal. The guide dog of a visually impaired passenger shall ride free of charge.
3.8. Responsibility for any damage caused by a small animal in the passenger compartment of the bus shall be borne by the passenger carrying the small animal.
4. Compensation in case of damaged, destroyed or missing luggage
4.1. Should luggage placed into the luggage compartment by the bus driver be damaged, destroyed or lost, the carrier will be responsible for up to 155 euros, provided that the passenger presents a receipt or any other document that proves the value of the accepted item. The carries reserves the right to refuse compensation if it exceeds this sum or if the damages have not been sufficiently proven.
4.2. Claims for damages must be submitted in writing by e-mail or by post.
5. Unrequested luggage
5.1. The carrier shall hold on to unrequested luggage as well as any items found on the bus, excluding quickly perishable goods, in accordance with the procedure defined in the Law of Obligations, but not for any longer that one month since it was found.
